Exposition

Chain dressing roomThe visit of the mining outdoor museum offers in particular the view of the complece above-ground part of the mine operation: mining towers with mining machines, dressing rooms, showers, mark control, room for recharging accumulator lamps, rescue apparatuses, etc.

Ringhoffer mining machineTechnology enthusiasts are attracted in particular by three mining machines. The most famous of those was manufactured by the Ringhoffer company in 1905, originally as a drive unit for sea ship. As fate would have it, instead of the sea it eventually emerged in the Kladno region and during the Second World War was converted from steam drive to compressed-air. It remained in operation until the end of mining and it is in order even today - and in the original engine room. However, for the visitors it is driven by an electric motor. The second machine is from 1905 as well. The younger mining machine Robert comes from 1932 and it is electric-driven - a work of art from the times of fair handicraft.

Another significant attraction of the premises is the approx. 130 metres long underground exposition in the galleries under the hill of Homole. It is notable for its fully mechanized coal face, which includes mine haulage as well. There is also a recompression chamber. The illusion of a real mine is just perfect.

The outdoor museum also features a building with expositions of indoor museum type. There is a collection of rescue technology, in particular fire-extinguishing and respiratory apparatuses, geological exposition, demonstrations of mining machinery and other interesting exhibits. Other exhibitions concentrate on underground surveying, underground fire control, etc.

The museum building also features video-programmes dealing with the history of the Mayrau mine and coal mining in the Kladno region.

Ripping machineFurther sizable technology is freely distributed around the whole premises - there one can find framings, loaders, means of underground transport, etc. The outdoor museum also comprises the working site of mining rescuers and training centre of mining rescue service.
